We designed a new addition to the Ehea Living collection: Teo side table. The side table made of solid pine is a natural and robust piece of furniture that only gets better with age. We recommend cherishing its natural properties that make each table its own unique individual.
“I feel deep gratitude towards this trip, dealing with a competent and reliable partner – the warmest thanks to the designer duo Heikki and Jukka!”
Tiina Roos, CEO Ehea Living
DESIGN PROCESS
Benchmarking
We begin the design process by studying the market situation of the product under design. This comparison helps to understand the competitive situation of the product and helps to delimit the features of the concept.
Sketching
After the market research, the ideation and sketching phase begins. The sketching is usually done by hand. We like to consider many options and make a lot of drawings first and then narrow down the options to find the best idea concept.
3D modeling
We have excellent knowledge of the use of modeling programs and product drawings are created with the help of editable 3D models. In 3D modeling, the shapes and exact details of products, different components and materials can be precisely defined.
Image rendering
Before a product really exists, we can create rendered images by 3D modeling and rendering the product concept. This way the customer can see how the finished product would look before the first prototype is created.
3D Printing
We use our own 3D printer to create models of product concepts. This benefits the design work and can be used to show how the dimensions and other features of the product actually look like.
Model making
Sometimes it is useful to build a cardboard model of a product. This helps to see the actual dimensions of the object and how it would function in use. A model does not give a precise picture of the actual materials and details, but it creates an image of how the product will look in relation to the space.
Production
Teo side table is locally produced in Finland. Made out of solid pine and with its natural cracks, the side table embodies a direct relationship with nature. The tables are made from surplus logs from a Finnish log house factory. The material is northern close-grained pine. You can feel the origin of the material in your fingertips.
