Multi glass light collection is an internationally acclaimed and award-winning product series. It consists of wall, floor, table and pendant lights. Multi is based on a new kind of modular glass blowing mold developed by Jokinen and Konu. The Multi series combines artistic and industrial perspectives in the production of glass objects. The products are handmade by professional glassblowers.
DESIGN PROCESS
Sketching
The sketching is usually done by hand and is based on creative thinking and ideation. We like to consider many options and make a lot of drawings first and then narrow down the options to find the best idea concept.
We have excellent knowledge of the use of modeling programs and product drawings are created with the help of editable 3D models. In 3D modeling, the shapes and exact details of products, different components and materials can be precisely defined.
Image rendering
Before a product really exists, we can create rendered images by 3D modeling and rendering the product concept. This way the customer can see how the finished product would look before the first prototype is created.
Glass blowing
Multi series is handmade by skilled glass artisans. This kind of quality for a glass object cannot be achieved with the help of machine production, but the only way is to make it by mouth-blowing, which is the result of years of training and experience.
The modular mold enables countless shapes produced with one mold, which makes the form creation process different from the usual. The modular mold can be used to produce unlimited amounts of forms by stacking the mold layers in different order. It is new and exceptional that modularity is part of the glass manufacturing process.
